A little about us
Hello, I'm Ayumi, the founder of FabWrap. I grew up in Osaka, Japan. I came to New Zealand in 2010. I started studying for a Bachelor of Applied Management. This is the time my second life started. My second life taught me many things and I felt appreciative of what I have in my life. Through my study, I started thinking about what it really means to be sustainable and how I can contribute to sustainability in business. We have so many single-use, convenience products to make our lives easier so how can we keep the convenience but still reduce waste? How can we re-create sustainable options of what we already have? These thoughts led me back to Japan, to the centuries-old practice of Furoshiki.
But rather than create new fabrics, my mission is to reduce the thousands of tons of disposable clothing and textile fabrics sitting in landfills worldwide, by giving some of these clothes and fabrics a second life. I want to guide all New Zealanders to start using FabWrap as a gift wrapping alternative to paper. Just like when we stopped relying on single-use plastic bags, this is an everyday habit we can change for the better. When people start using FabWraps and pass these on to their loved ones, it is like an adult game of Pass The Parcel. Your FabWrap could even go to another country and come back to you - how cool is that?!
Fabwrap is a beautiful, sustainable, reusable and unique Furoshiki convincing Aotearoa and Japanese cultures.
Let me lead you with my vision for your life and make the future brighter for our children.
