A little about us
Hello, I'm Ayumi, the founder of FabWrap. I grew up in Osaka, Japan. I came to New Zealand in 2010. I started studying for a bachelor of applied management. This is the time my second life started. My second life taught me many things and I felt appreciative of what I have in my life. Through my study, I became more conscious of climate change and I feel fear for my children's future. I also thought about what it really means to be sustainable to me and how I can contribute as a business. We have so many things surrounding us, how can we reduce waste, how can we re-create what we have already? These thoughts connected me to my Furoshiki concept. Thousands of tons of disposable clothing and textile fabrics are becoming a problem, sitting in landfills worldwide. My mission is to reduce this waste and give these clothes and fabrics a second life. I want to guide all New Zealanders to start using FabWrap as a gift wrapping alternative and adapt their habits, just like we stopped using single-use plastic bags. When people start using upcycled fabric wrapping and pass it on to their loved ones, it is like an adult game if pass the parcel. Maybe it could even go to another country and come back to you - how cool is that?!
This is my vision and if you see that world in your eyes, it means I could change your habit! And life becomes a bit brighter for our future and our children.
